Open Call for TypoCraftHelsinki 2019
The theme of the event is “Kauno”, or “Joint Writing”. We’re inviting graphic artists, designers, craftspeople and artists to design artworks or products that take “Kauno” as their starting point. We want to see ideas which combine the theme – freely interpreted – and typography in a new way with the material and form, and in which typography expands from two dimensions to at least three.
TypoCraftHelsinki is an organic event concept operating on the biennale principle. It consists of an exhibition, workshop and international cooperation. The aim of TypoCraftHelsinki is to arouse visitors’ interest in typography and letters in a range of sectors and from new perspectives. TCH offers exhibitors a forum to experiment, investigate, go deeper and cooperate while breaking down professional boundaries.
This autumn’s event is the third of it kind in Helsinki. It was previously held in 2015 and 2017. TypoCraftHelsinki has run exhibitions with local artists in Seoul (2016), Kyoto (2017) and Reykjavik (2018). The event was awarded a “gold peak” in the Design category at the Vuoden Huiput –The Best of Finnish Advertising and Design competition – 2017. TypoCraftHelsinki has been featured in such publications as Wallpaper, Monocle, Cool Hunter and Brand.
So here is what you should do:
